Character Information
May. 10th, 2012 06:37 pmJoran Backstrom
Known to Public: He is a recent arrival to Amaranthine from the Anderfels. Both his accent and garb mark him as such. He is a regular at Chantry services and also spends a good amount of time there. The brothers and sisters would know that he is doing research, but they don't know what it is he's looking for. He deliberately includes some subjects of which he has little interest in his requests to obscure the search. Beyond that, he's quiet, distant, and keeps to himself.
Known to Other Wardens: He is a Grey Warden. He spends some time at the Keep and involves himself where he's needed or if he has orders. It's not something he announces outside of that circle.
The Warden he was traveling with, Melker, died on the voyage from Kirkwall to Highever of a disease that was of sudden onset and very severe. He doesn't know what it was. He had never seen such a sickness before.
He has been a Warden for almost a decade now.
Known to Traveling Companions: Those who spend enough time with him will know that he's a devout Andrastian. If they are also, they may notice that some of the things he says don't quite fit doctrine. He's unusually protective of his sword, generally more of a listener than a talker, and closed off about his past. His Fereldan is only so-so.
If they have occasion to get into battle with him, depending upon what they're fighting, they may see him call down a Holy Smite or cleanse an area of magical effects. He will not be forthcoming about how he attained these abilities.
Known to Close Friends: He currently has no close friends in Ferelden.
Known to Self: He is a disgraced Templar. He is supportive of Templar autonomy from the Chantry. He is a heretic. He is researching magic and any possible connections to Templar abilities, how those abilities are actually attained, and how Darkspawn gain access to magic or the Fade. He still craves lyrium, although he hasn't lapsed back into active addiction since getting clean. His sister is alive and well back in Hossberg with her husband and four children. He has kept tabs without keeping in contact.
